This is a minor version upgrade from 12.6 to 12.9, consisting of several maintenance releases. The changes are primarily bug fixes and do not introduce breaking API changes. Notably, version 12.6 had temporarily dropped support for Java 8. This support was reinstated in version 12.7 and is present in the target version 12.9.
